Review: Djeco Beadazzled Dough

Y’all know I love Djeco and this kit is no different.  Beadazzled Dough  is a super fun art kit that comes with 3 designs; fish, cat and chicken. The dough is like air clay so after about a day it completely dries and your able to hang up the board. The kit comes with the exact number of beads you need for each design. I sorted the beads into bags for each design so they’d be ready to go when go to use them. I love that everything you need comes in the kit. No mess was made when we did the kit which was a great plus. The instructions are simple to follow and done all in pictures so even my 3 year old daughter knew what she needed to do without me explaining it to her. Since the dough is air clay it was soft and easy for her move to fill in the cutout.  The instructions do show where to put the beads but I just let her put them anywhere she wanted. Djeco is about creativity so why not let your kids get creative in where the beads go. When we finished the ch...

Review: Story Volcano Island

This is such a great way to get your kiddos story telling abilities up.  Story Volcano Island  has a bunch of cards with colorful pictures. There is a card that has instructions for different ages on games you can play. We play by taking turns picking a card from the pile and making up a part of the story. So far, our daughter just explains what is happening on the card but her vocabulary and story telling skills have increased. She’s able to remember the whole story from start to finish which I think is remarkable. What is really great is that she loves the game. It’s easy to play and the story is always different because you never know what card you’re going to get.

Review: Dimpl Duo

This item is called  Dimpl Duo . One side has colors and the other is shapes. What is really cool is above the names the words are in Braille. I have not come across any other toys that have Braille so it was nice to see that they have options like that. The size of the game is perfect for tiny hands and is a great educational item to use at home, in the car or at places where your little ones would get bored like the doctors. The colors are the same on the front and back so with colors you can ask for both; find the red circle. The shape it goes over are circle, triangle, square, rectangle, diamond and oval. The only thing about the shapes that I do not like is that they have diamond where as we call it a rhombus but that is fine. I love that the colors chosen are the colors of the rainbow. My daughter thinks is super fun and told me it’s like a tablet. Then she proceeded to go around saying it was her table; “I’m going to watch yellow!”. Since they have to push in the bub...

Tips & Tricks: Tips for Temp Homeschoolers

With many schools being closed for a month or in some cases longer I thought it’d be a good idea to give y’all some ideas on what you can do. Don’t feel like you have to do school related things right away. Take a week off to reconnect with your kids and family. They maybe worried and scared already so let them relax and adjust to staying at home 24/7. Below you’ll find ages and ideas on what to do with them. Preschool: Let them be kids. I didn’t know anything when I started elementary. I learned it all while in school. Their are many few things online to help: Khan Academy, ABCMouse, a bunch of printables on Teachers Pay Teachers, etc.  Everyday life can be lessons without your kids knowing: baking, folding laundry, Madd Mattr (way better than Play Doh), etc. Play board games.  Playing in the yard.  Watching movies.  Read books.  Science experiments! There are a lot of cool experiments you can do with regular household items.  My daughter lov...

Review: Big Book of Things to Spot

We love search and find!  Big Book of Things to Spot  is an amazing book that comes in Timberdoodle’s Preschool Kit. This book has so many different things to find and is colorful. What I like is that it works counting skills, object recognition and we can talk about what’s going on in the pictures. We are able to take the book with us so we can play with it when we go out. Because smaller kids often find the same picture more than once I’ve thought of a new way to use the book. I tore a sheet protector open and place it over the 2 page spread then we can circle the images with an Expo. I have found it to be very useful and makes it even more fun for my daughter. She especially likes the different environments to find things in the books.

Review: Italic Handwriting Book B

Last year I got Italic Handwriting Book A  and loved it. I decided to get it again this year so I emailed Timberdoodle to switch the handwriting curriculum out for Italic Handwriting Book B  in our custom kit. What I like about Book B is that it still goes over the letters but also has a sentence to go with the word chosen for each letter. The way they teach handwriting is this book is so nice. I wish I was taught this way so I’d have pretty handwriting, too. With Book A I was just erasing each time we finished so we could reuse the book as many times as needed. However, I got an awesome tip to use sheet protectors. Now, I place the book in the sheet protectors (I use the side open ones) and we use Expo markers and erase when done. My daughter loves these books. She gets so excited when she writes a letter in her own and it is written so nicely. She’s able to trace the words and then practice them on her own which I think is a great and another reason why I en...

Review: My First Spot the Difference

Timberdoodle has chosen an amazing book here.  My First Spot the Difference  is so colorful and bright. In the back of the book are the answers which is nice because on every page there is one difference that is really hard to find. I’m very surprised how well my 3 year old does with this. She is able to find the majority of the differences except the hardest one. I also like that they have the child write how many differences so they can practice writing. My daughter loves this book. The excitement and proud look on her face when she finds the differences is so wonderful to see. She also thinks the pictures are funny and we always get to have little conversations about what’s happening in the pictures.
